Title: Modelling collective cell movement
Abstract: Collective cell movement is ubiquitous in biology, occurring in normal development, repair (wound healing) and disease (for example, cancer). Here I will review our group's work in this area over recent years with particular emphasis on chick cranial neural crest stream formation. I will illustrate how a hybrid agent-based model, combined with experiments, has yielded novel insights into a number of key aspects of this problem, including phenotypic heterogeneity and stream confinement.
